Four artists raiding again!

Just recently I had another group of artists here to paint plates. The plan is to get eight artists to paint several plates and donate one each for the upcoming Western Front fundraiser. Eric, Monique and Katie had already painted theirs in January so on this day my visitors were Sally Clay, RenĂ©e van Halm, Eli Bornowsky and Katie again. Paul Mathieu couldn’t come so is giving a small plate that he painted last year.

I needed to get one done too but painted it privately! I decided to paint one using underglazes as the others do, which isn’t my usual practice. My work is mostly slip-painted with just occasional touches of red underglaze.

With the possibility of black as a common theme for the plates I chose to paint one of the Pileated Woodpeckers which frequent our feeder. But on this day I was assembling a Toucan Jugbird.

For this first blog today I shall show Alan’s photographs of the artists working. Then I’d like to post a blog about each artist with his or her finished pieces.

When Katie has assembled the donated eight plates I will post that group, so that you can know what the final auction item looks like, and perhaps put in a bid!
