Mina & Tamara

Five was a good number of Raiders this time. The pool/ping-pong table seats five and me comfortably. So there are just two more artists to feature in this blog.

Mina painted one of the large round plates with bold red and then other coloured shapes. It’s very striking! Then she added three more of the square, electric frying-pan formed plates. She is enjoying using those to serve dinners. Guests would certainly understand that they are being entertained by an artist.

Tamara was as productive as usual, jumping right in to paint intricate designs on one large and two medium oval platters. The biggest platter is quite striking with colourful amoeba-like shapes wiggling all over it. The orange platter has a chain design, and I had to show a photo of the bold zigzag pattern on the reverse too.

On the third platter Tamara used a ceramic pencil to draw a somewhat disturbing design of chain-link fencing and painted the grey background between the gaps. Was she feeling anxious?

Now I have more plates ready for a different group of artists joining me for a Raid next week. Again, I think it’s nice not to have too large a group for each get-together. I always look forward to seeing what exactly the artists will do with my slab forms.
