Painted plates and a vase

Here are the photos Al took of all the pieces that were painted last week. Our home-made light box really does make the job of getting a professional-style image so quick and easy.  I merely crop them in iPhoto.

All the plates look the same size here, but Jacqui’s are four lunch-size plates. She now has a set of six.

Katie’s is a regular size platter and she also painted a 6″ tile. It’ll be interesting for her to see how this bold platter looks next to her previous strong image which used red, grey and Black.

Dave painted two platters and a yellow plate.

Paul’s platter is huge! It is painted with tiny underglaze dots.

Eric spent the day painting a vase he had designed for me to throw. He’s introduced a fourth colour. The wedding present recipients should be happy!

All fun! Just so you know, the artists give me a modest sum to cover the clay, underglazes and my work and I’m quite happy with that. I feel it’s my way of getting the rest of the local art community more comfortable with clay and a 3D surface.

If there are other artists out there who’d like to take part in this low-key day of painting do get in touch with Eric at the Western Front. I just need about a week to get whatever blanks you need made and dried. I believe we’ll do this once or twice more before the end of the year. It’s a good way for us to get to know each other as we chat during the painting.
