<p><a href="https://www.gillianmcmillan.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/P9060015.jpg"><img decoding="async" class="alignright size-medium wp-image-3520" title="David Pacholko describing the art work" src="https://www.gillianmcmillan.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/P9060015-300x157.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="157" srcset="https://www.gillianmcmillan.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/P9060015-300x157.jpg 300w, https://www.gillianmcmillan.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/P9060015-1024x537.jpg 1024w, https://www.gillianmcmillan.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/P9060015.jpg 1718w" sizes="(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px" /></a></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>On the north side of Clarke street, between the Barnet Highway and Douglas street there is a new green plywood fence. It will hide the untidy machinery and building materials being used there for the building of our long-awaited Evergreen Skytrain line. To enhance said green fence the Evergreen line people and the City of Port Moody have had a very long canvas painted with jolly, whimsical images of life here.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gillianmcmillan.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/P9060016.jpg"><img decoding="async" class="alignleft size-medium wp-image-3521" title="local inhabitant..." src="https://www.gillianmcmillan.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/P9060016-300x168.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="168" srcset="https://www.gillianmcmillan.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/P9060016-300x168.jpg 300w, https://www.gillianmcmillan.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/P9060016-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gillianmcmillan.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/P9060016.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px" /></a></p>
<p>Local artists David Pacholko and Stirling Ward spent many hours this summer deciding on images, colours, themes and characters for this professionally printed piece of temporary (two or three years) public art.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gillianmcmillan.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/P9060017.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignright size-medium wp-image-3522" title="I just like this rooster on a scooter" src="https://www.gillianmcmillan.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/P9060017-300x156.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="156" srcset="https://www.gillianmcmillan.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/P9060017-300x156.jpg 300w, https://www.gillianmcmillan.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/P9060017-1024x535.jpg 1024w, https://www.gillianmcmillan.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/P9060017.jpg 1917w" sizes="(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px" /></a></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>I&#8217;m sure the commuters will be much cheered by the zany images on their right as they commute in to Burnaby and Vancouver.</p>
<p>I&#8217;ll post photos I took on Friday as David Pacholko described what the images represent and why they were chosen.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gillianmcmillan.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/P9060018.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignleft size-medium wp-image-3523" title="Bears are well-fed here" src="https://www.gillianmcmillan.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/P9060018-300x154.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="154" srcset="https://www.gillianmcmillan.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/P9060018-300x154.jpg 300w, https://www.gillianmcmillan.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/P9060018-1024x527.jpg 1024w, https://www.gillianmcmillan.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/P9060018.jpg 1919w" sizes="(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px" /></a></p>
<p>Enjoy the colours, and you can go to the website below to find more details on the work. There is also a contest with Port Moody prizes for those who can sort out all the images. You can go to the website by holding your cell phone up to the last image, on the corner of Douglas street, for more information on the contest.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gillianmcmillan.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/P9060019.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignright size-medium wp-image-3524" title="busy ants drawing" src="https://www.gillianmcmillan.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/P9060019-300x158.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="158" srcset="https://www.gillianmcmillan.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/P9060019-300x158.jpg 300w, https://www.gillianmcmillan.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/P9060019-1024x541.jpg 1024w, https://www.gillianmcmillan.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/P9060019.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px" /></a></p>
<p>After the opening ceremony and David&#8217;s explanation, Alan and I walked north on Douglas street towards the part of the Trans-Canada Trail that will pass over or under the Evergreen rail line. We were interested to see how the tunnel (under the Barnet Highway) for the line is progressing. So the last photo shows that yes, in fact there are two large holes in the hillside for the eventual tunnel-boring machine to excavate. This day concrete was being poured for the first of the line supports that will take the rail over Schoolhouse Creek.</p>
