Another painting raid

Yesterday I finished spraying the last of my stoneware pieces with slips for salt, loaded the bisque kiln and turned it on. Then I made sure I had plates ready and underglazes topped up for three artists coming to paint again today.

Eric Metcalfe brought Monique Fouquet and Renée van Halm this time. Monique brought a home-made quiche, chocolate cake and an idea for painting her pre-ordered grey-coated platter. Renée had prepared collages for her painting and a yummy salad. Eric brought cheeses and bread and stories to tell!

We quickly settled down to get lots of work done and I was delighted to fish out my D’arcy Redart clay to get started on gallery and internet orders of jugbirds. Alan joined us with his camera so I will add his photos to today’s blog.

By the end of the day Eric had painted his usual cheery graphic designs on two plates, Renée had painted four with bold, angular shapes, Monique concentrated on her one large platter, applying floating ovals and I threw eleven jugbird bodies. I’ll make sure the finished work is recorded here.

Eric is hoping we’ll all donate a plate each for a fund-raiser next year. I don’t see why we couldn’t do that. Meanwhile Al and I do enjoy having artists here for these painting raids, especially when they bring such a delicious lunch!
