In the Eastern gallery at Equinox there is another fine sculpture show. Vancouver-based artist Marie Khouri has created some amazing sculptural forms which can be used for sitting and gathering. At first glance seemingly totally abstract, it wasn’t until we found a mounted maquette of the whole installation that we realized that the forms are all part of a phrase in Arabic, “Let’s Sit and Talk”.
Marie Khouri was born in Egypt and raised in Lebanon and lived in Spain and Italy before moving to Canada. Her training in Sculpture took place at L’Ecole du Louvre in Paris where she became interested in Henry Moore’s sculpture.

Like the Dempsey Bob show in the adjacent gallery, this intriguing interactive arrangement can be seen until July 5th.
