The other two artists to paint in my studio recently were Mina Totino and MarleneĀ Madison.
Mina’s plates wound up with strong bold colours and lively brushstrokes. She painted three of the squarish forms and finished up with a little bowl piece. I think she’ll be happy with the results. I love the orange, grey and purple one, with the red border.
Marlene Madison, a first-time ‘raider’, draws delicate little cartoons. For her day’s work she painted her signature shoe images on five of our squarish plates, and Caesar Salad on a little triangular dish. It would be nice to see her reaction to her first paintings on clay. They’re charming.
For my next blog I’ll post photos of my work in this recent kiln, and then I must get back to making some more work. After a few more ordered jugbirds I’d like to fish out my stoneware clay again. Nora suggests we should work towards another salt firing in May. There’s a goal!
