Rainbow Lorikeet

Some time ago an Australian woman asked me to make a Rainbow Lorikeet jugbird for  water, juice or soft drink. Finally I’ve made one, somewhat bigger than my usual ones. I used 2 lbs of clay like my largest Peregrine Falcon. I’ll send her these photos now and find out if she still wants it. Surface mail is roughly $23 for many weeks and air mail costs about $50. We’ll see. Otherwise I’ll offer it for sale on Granville Island. DSC_0015 copy

One friend commented on Facebook that I managed to match the colours well, but it really is just a jug coloured to look like a Lorikeet – but a little imagination and those eyes give it life.   I remember being so excited to see these little fellows in a Melbourne park.

I also have a little Kookaburra and I’ll see if another person who requested one still wants it.

The other photos just document the eight jugbirds from my firing last week. Some will go to ‘Eclectic’ in Victoria – they want more of the red and blue jobs and another Flicker, Goldfinch and mini Woodpecker. The rest will go to Circle Craft tomorrow where I’m told they have almost none left.

By the way I’ll be at the Gallery of BC Ceramics (with 4 little plates for them) for the first Contemporary  Ceramic Collective gathering at 6pm. Don’t forget to join us.
