Birthday Raid

There were enough plates for yesterday’s ‘Raiders’ but only just! My visiting artists were Eric, Mina, Monique, Renée, Cindy and Marlene. As usual the group settled down to work and in no time were concentrating on their latest ideas, all so different from each other. I have a few photos of them working but will wait until the plates are all fired twice before I post photos of the finished work.

The highlight of the day was the gourmet lunch, made extra special this time because the group decided to celebrate Eric’s birthday last Monday and Alan’s, earlier in August.

Renée baked a super cheesy cauliflower frittata, Monique made a French-style ‘pizza’ with sun-dried tomatoes and puff pastry and Mina found two special birthday cakes for the men. Eric brought his delicious home-made potato salad, sliced ham and French bread. With French lemonade and Whole Foods salads from Cindy we had a feast! Marlene arrived for the latter part of the day with chocolatey snacks for tea.

My guests carried their finished plates down to the kiln shed at the end of the afternoon, and I was happy to show them my just-cooled-from-glaze-firing Woodpeckers. I’ll post pics of them in my next blog.
