TriCity Potters June meeting

The TriCity Potters' final meeting of the year was held at Port Moody Arts Centre last Wednesday. Just this once we were given Studio 1 which is the open area upstairs. It was perfectly adequate for the 17 members who attended. But when we have more people there we will be happy to occupy a larger room in the new/old building or the connecting atrium.…

This rainy weather has given me a chance to catch up on studio work. The twelve jugbirds ordered by Crafthouse YVR several weeks ago are now painted with slip. Let’s Sit and Talk

In the Eastern gallery at Equinox there is another fine sculpture show. Vancouver-based artist Marie Khouri has created some amazing sculptural forms which can be used for sitting and gathering. At first glance seemingly totally abstract, it wasn't until we found a mounted maquette of the whole installation that we realized that the forms are all part of a phrase in Arabic, "Let's Sit and Talk".…

Dempsey Bob: North

Two shows opened at Equinox Gallery last Saturday. Alan was particularly interested in seeing the latest work by  Tlingit/Tahltan artist Dempsey Bob.
