The TriCity Potters' final meeting of the year was held at Port Moody Arts Centre last Wednesday. Just this once we were given Studio 1 which is the open area upstairs. This rainy weather has given me a chance to catch up on studio work. The twelve jugbirds ordered by Crafthouse YVR several weeks ago are now painted with slip. Fraser Valley Potters' Guild's Annual Juried Show is being held at the New Westminster Art Council Gallery in Queen's Park, New Westminster this year. In the Eastern gallery at Equinox there is another fine sculpture show. Vancouver-based artist Marie Khouri has created some amazing sculptural forms which can be used for sitting and gathering. Two shows opened at Equinox Gallery last Saturday. Alan was particularly interested in seeing the latest work by Tlingit/Tahltan artist Dempsey Bob. He reminded me that we'd seen a two-person show of Dempsey Bob and Joe Fafard at Douglas Udell Gallery some time ago, where we learnt that Bob had spent time at Fafard's foundry in Pense, Saskatchewan.
