Galleries in December

After I’d had a day or two to make notes on the salt firing I chose some pieces to deliver to my Granville Island galleries.

The interim manager at the Gallery of BC Ceramics, Laura Carey, seemed pleased with the new work but she also showed me how much she likes my miniature Pileated Woodpecker jug bird!

Assistant Carita Ho is always happy with my birds!

I’m told that they will now have two separate areas to display my work for a while.

I also delivered some new salty jugbirds to Circle Craft and when we were in Vancouver again last Saturday it was fun to see that they also have my work in two areas, and one in their window.

Thank you to all the people who work in these two galleries for so kindly taking care of displaying, promoting and selling our work. Now that I am not taking my work to craft sales events I rely on your expertise and am grateful.

We were in Kitsilano to attend the wedding of my brother-in-law Brian to Valerie Berry – a happy occasion! Now there is another McMillan, and first-time-mentioned-in-this-blog, we are expecting our first grand-child in April! I’m all for expanding this family.

Meanwhile we had both boys and Jennifer, and Brian and Val here to celebrate Christmas on the 24th.

Yesterday Al and I were invited to join the big Demchuk family meal in Pitt Meadows with all Jen’s side of the family. Thanks McMillans and Demchuks for what? just being family. There’s no doubt I always miss the big Taylor family at this time of year  – so that’s why expanding the west coast contingent is good!

Best wishes for all sorts of creativity and good fortune in 2013 to those who read this. Please feel free to comment or add information to my jottings. I have no intention of quitting this seductive passion for working with clay.
