Public Art in New Zealand and Australia

Alan and I have been having a holiday in Mexico City and Puerto Vallarta, so now, before I dig out my clay to start on a number of projects in my mind, I want to deal with some photos. Of course there are many from our sunny trip just now but I will post this Picasa album of images from last year first.

Wherever we travel I find myself taking photos of inspiring, clever, funny, bold, thought-provoking Public Art. This album features outdoor and indoor Art that has been publicly funded, some that is on private property and some that is ancient. I have only occasionally found the name of the artist(s), sorry. I don’t like everything I’ve included but two that stood out are these in this blog – a surprising floating sphere of New Zealand ferns spotted above central Wellington and a fantastic walking bridge on the waterfront of New Plymouth. New Plymouth, Taranaki, NZ is another ‘City of the Arts’.

Enjoy a browse through these sculptures, paintings and architecture. And if you enjoy reading my occasional blogs do subscribe by clicking on the green envelope above right. These jottings will then just appear in your email inbox.
