ArtWalk 2013

Port Moody’s ArtWalk week-end is coming up very soon. There will be a Friday evening reception as usual at The Old Mill Boathouse in Rocky Point Park, 6.30-8.30pm where you can meet the artists and plan your Saturday and Sunday amble around Old Port Moody. I will be in my studio both days from noon, until 5pm on Saturday and until 4pm on Sunday. From 4 – 5.30pm there will be a wrap-up party for the artists and visitors at Venue 10 on Queen’s street. This last Tuesday the 10th Coquitlam Pechakucha evening featured artists who will be involved in ArtWalk. It proved to be a really fun evening. Joye McPherson of Joye Design Jewelry sat next to me as we listened to fellow ArtWalk artists Gay Mitchell and LeRee Mohr accompanying Gay’s slides with music. Gay plays flute and LeRee plays harp and piano. The pastel drawings of country scenes drawn mainly on LeRee’s farm were delightful. Other presenters entertained us with photography, community drumming, Peace art, dance, writing and more. Just before the beer and chat break Lyle Povah involved all of us in a group, 4-part drumming-0n-knees-and-clapping session. Fun! Thank you, Artsconnect’s Mandara Lebovitz for organizing this Pechakucha.

The evening concluded with a presentation of one slide each submitted by ArtWalk participants, again accompanied by Gay and LeRee. You can see them with the slide from Joye Designs. I wish I had found time to make another loon like the ones in my photo.

Today, while Alan and I await news about the imminent arrival of our grandson, I am trying to get the final five jugbirds painted. Soly Feng of Crafthouse YVR phoned me for the third time, desperate for more so I’ve explained that I want to fire the ones I have here and show them at ArtWalk. Then I must get them out to the airport right away. Anybody driving out there first thing Monday morning April 15th?

Make a note of the ArtWalk days, I’d love to have visitors here. The garden is full of tulips and I may be working on my wheel.
