Now I’m so excited! Nora Vaillant has just phoned to tell me that we are scheduled to fire the salt kiln next week. My pieces and 20 draw rings are all bisqued so I just need to glaze all the insides. The fresh batch of wadding is all mixed up ready to go.
Meanwhile Soly at YVR Crafthouse also phoned today to check how her order for another 12 jugbirds is coming along. Some of the jugbirds in the glaze firing I opened this evening can be for her, although five are orders from ArtWalk. But I have another seven in process.
The photo of a handle being attached to a jugbird was taken a short while ago for a Port Moody ‘Artists’ Hands’ project (more on that later) but it shows what I was doing this afternoon.
There’s a photo of my kiln shed just as I was emptying the kiln, with evening light within and the other two are of the earthenware pieces all done.
Three jugbirds are new designs of English birds intended for Primavera this Fall. Alan will take some good photos tomorrow.
