1st Annual TriCity Christmas Pottery Sale

Potter Ysabella Choung rents a little storefront studio on Clarke street in the Heritage area of old Port Moody, next to Gallery Bistro.

She sells her cheerfully coloured work there, gives lessons and operates workshop time for the public. Recently she suggested that she and her husband could open the shop for a group Christmas Sale for members of TriCity Potters. It’s a great location, a block away from Port Moody Arts Centre, and right around the corner from Joye Designs Jewellery store (Joye is holding a ‘Black Friday’ sale the same weekend).

Fifteen members of our group have decided to participate, sharing shifts from Friday evening through Sunday afternoon. There will therefore be a tremendous variety of clay work to see and to get your Christmas shopping started. Then you can grab coffee or a tasty lunch next door at Helen and Rainer Daniels’ Gallery Bistro. I’ve volunteered to be in the store on Friday evening from 4 – 6.15pm. See you there!

Usually I focus on getting some work made to take down to Granville Island but this year I have chosen to show some jugbirds, mugs and bird-feeders at this local event first. After the weekend I’ll take a long-overdue selection to the Gallery of BC Ceramics and to Circle Craft. When I open my glaze kiln tomorrow I’ll get Al to take some photos, including my new (commissioned) Kingfisher and a new Loon Jug.
