More Painted Plates

There was a small Raiding party on Friday with just Mina, Pierre and Michelle. But the group worked on several plates, we had another marvellous lunch and now I have quite enough pieces to fire, along with some work of mine.

Mina and Michelle were happy to have work from the previous Raid to take home, and then were inspired to quietly accumulate more. Pierre had already collected his earlier black and white plates and has a plan to keep making more. On this day he painted three, using stencil, wax resist and sgraffito in his experimentation.

Our lunch was Summery, with Mina’s exotic salad accompanied by gourmet paté, cheese, bread and pasta salad from Whole Foods contributed by Pierre. Michelle had baked some blueberry muffins to have at tea-time.

Mina has left two more plates, with the undersides painted, all ready for the top sides to be completed on her next visit. And Eric has asked for a yellow-painted plate to be bisqued for another ceramic pencil drawing.

So that was another happy day of Art talk, book and film recommendations and travel plans all while we worked. I’m sure there’ll be another group, possibly with different people, a few weeks from now and Eric will regale us with tales of his Puerto Vallarta holiday. We always hope to be able to lunch outside in the summer.
