Two weeks ago, on the day after we returned from Alan's exciting few days in Whistler I had four artists here to paint plates and I threw the bodies of four new jugbirds. Smith-Wintemberg Award

As I was driving up to Whistler Alan was giving a paper at the Canadian Archaeological Association Conference there. (I had heard it before, I promise!) He spoke on 'Nuu-chah-nulth Whaling Chiefs in the Archaeological Record of Barkley Sound' and I'm told it was very well received. I joined him for a reception in the conference centre that evening and we stayed for interesting lectures…

Now we are grandparents!

Last Thursday April 4th our grandson Caleb Yulie Daniel McMillan was born. He weighed 7 lb 4 oz and according to his dad 'he's perfect'!
