Second day in the studio, June 3rd

Threw some jugbird bodies in various sizes today. Discovered that my die for spouts/beaks can’t work with the centre’s extruder so I threw cylinders instead. I should take a series of photos of that process..    And I threw the parts for a teapot. I want to make all the things I like. When I have decided on the perfect clay (after the first salt firing next week) I want to make bigger pieces.

We were shown a video ‘Landscape’ of John Chalke and his love of this land.

Walked ‘home’ along Seven Persons Creek under dark clouds, with gusty wind. It took an hour by the time I had watched deer, photographed a bull snake road-kill and picked lilac. Charming paved trail away from the streets so ideal for Aaron to bike to work every day.

We're told they bite but are not venomous. They keep the rattlesnakes away..

In the evening Teresa from Saskatoon offered to drive me and Brenda downtown to check out the local ArtWalk. Gift shop, framing shop, galleries and studios were open. We heard music, admired all sorts of pottery, sculpture and paintings and had a chance to get a feeling for life in Medicine Hat.
