spraying slip June 4th

Took lunch, MacBook and a change of clothes over to Medalta today when we were given a ride there.

Spent quite some time figuring out the spray booth. There’s a wonderful British-made waterfall to take away all chemical in the spray. But I opted for my basic little sprayer, like a fixative sprayer, rather than the noisy, big-volume electric sprayer. I just blow 1/2 cup of really wet slip on pots on a banding wheel. I’m sure that’s enough effect. I’ve tested various slips plus titanium dioxide so I can hardly wait to see these first results!

Put 4 spouts into jugbirds and assembled the teapot.

Robin Dupont and Candace cooked burgers – my first Alberta beef – and we all contributed salads, desserts etc. More potting then change, and over to the Museum building for the opening of ‘Clay Dynamics’. It’s a show of the pieces we each brought to the Residency. With the artwalk last night and this weekend’s ‘Spectrum’ there weren’t many attendees. But we all had a good chance to understand what work we’re each making. The public will see the show as part of their museum visit over the next month.
