wadding, glazing pots and loading the salt kiln, June 8th

I weighed out and mixed up a batch of shino glaze first. The rest of the morning was spent carefully wadding my pots and glazing the interiors with the shino glaze (thin).

Claude and I carefully loaded the salt kiln. Joanne, Jin, Teresa and Sandi contributed pieces and at the end Jim Etzkorn allowed some of his work to go in at the top for refiring. We’ll have such a variety of clays, slips, surfaces and glazes to study in a few days.

Put a spout on my 2nd teapot (H570). Taxi home with Brenda. Joanne gave us a ride to London Drugs – tea, a tiny radio, a knife, hand lotion – essentials! Big day tomorrow, the first salt firing. All my 33 pots are in there..
